Long Island Freedom Festival

On Saturday, July 24 and Sunday, July 25, Long Island will celebrate America's military during the fun-filled "Long Island Freedom Festival 2004" at Dowling College's Brookhaven Campus on William Floyd Parkway in Shirley.

Bring the entire family to meet military heroes & uniformed personnel from the United States Air Force, Army, Marines and National Guard. This exciting salute to our troops will bring together hands-on, interactive military displays, using aircraft, vehicles and equipment from each branch of the armed forces. Food, rides and games will round out this family-fun event.

Guests will see the actual equipment used by our armed forces at home and overseas to keep America free. All events and displays will be manned by active and reserve military personnel, many of whom just returned from, or will soon head out to, the Middle East.

As a special thank you to those who have served, the event will open an hour early each day exclusively for all VFW, American Legion and Amvet members, military personnel and veterans, as well as girl and boy Scouts in uniform. Those who take advantage of the offer will receive complimentary admission during that hour.

In addition, a portion of the event proceeds are to benefit the Dowling College School of Aviation and its scholarship program.

"At this time in our nation's history, America's armed forces have never been more appreciated. We are so proud to be able to allow Long Islanders to see, touch and learn about military equipment and to interact with the heroes who defend our liberty at home and overseas," said John Caracciolo, President of Strong Island Events, producer of the event.
