Brookhaven Honors Mastic Beach Civic Leader Kevin Collins

Longtime Mastic Beach civic leader Kevin Collins was honored by the Town of Brookhaven for years of community service following his departure as president of the Mastic Beach Property Owners Association.

Councilwoman Karen Dunne Kesnig recognized Collins before a recent Brookhaven Town Board meeting and proclaimed the date “Kevin Collins Day” throughout the town.

Collins, a longtime Mastic Beach resident and community activist, recently stepped down as president of the Mastic Beach Property Owners Association, an organization through which he worked on projects and events benefiting residents of the hamlet.

Among the efforts recognized by Dunne Kesnig were renovation projects at Marina One at the Mastic Beach Yacht Club. Collins was also involved in organizing community events, including snapper derbies and children’s Halloween parties.

His community involvement extended beyond events sponsored by the property owners association. According to the town, Collins regularly supported other local organizations and made the MBPOA facility available for community groups to use.

The recognition comes as Brookhaven officials continue to highlight volunteer and civic efforts throughout Mastic Beach and surrounding communities. Dunne Kesnig represents Brookhaven’s Sixth Council District, which includes Mastic Beach.

The Sept. 17 proclamation formally recognized Collins’ years of service and his work through the property owners association to support local residents and organizations.

Collins’ tenure included both improvements to community facilities and family-oriented activities designed to bring residents together.
