Brookhaven Seeks Nominations For Youth Volunteer Awards

The Town of Brookhaven is seeking nominations for youth who are making a difference in their communities as part of its 45th Annual Youth Volunteer Awards.

The Brookhaven Youth Board is accepting nominations through October 19th for the annual awards, which recognize young people for volunteer service, leadership, compassion and positive involvement in their communities, schools or organizations.

Nominees must be Town of Brookhaven residents who are either enrolled in grades eight through 12 or are no older than 24. Nominations can be submitted online through the town’s Youth Volunteer Awards webpage found at Brookhavenny.gov.

The awards provide an opportunity for parents, teachers, coaches, community organizations and residents to recognize young people who donate their time to help others.

Last year, 33 residents were recognized during the 44th Annual Youth Volunteer Awards at Brookhaven Town Hall. Their volunteer efforts ranged from work with local youth organizations to providing opportunities in sports, music and academics.

The Youth Board serves as an advisory board to the Brookhaven Youth Bureau. The bureau works to support the social, emotional, physical and educational well-being of young people through programs, services and community initiatives.

This year’s awards ceremony is tentatively scheduled for November 17th at Brookhaven Town Hall, located at 1 Independence Hill in Farmingville.

Residents who know a young person deserving recognition can submit a nomination at the town’s Youth Volunteer Awards website before the October 19th deadline.
