Veterans and their families will have an opportunity to connect directly with dozens of organizations offering health care, benefits, legal assistance and other services during Brookhaven Town’s Third Annual Veterans Resource Fair.
The free event will be held Thursday, October 15th, from 4 to 7 p.m. in the second-floor auditorium at Brookhaven Town Hall, 1 Independence Hill in Farmingville. The Town of Brookhaven Department of General Services’ Division of Veterans Services is hosting the fair in partnership with the Suffolk County Veterans Services Agency.
“Our Veterans Resource Fair connects veterans and their families with organizations that provide essential programs and services,” Supervisor Daniel J. Panico said. “Thank you to our veterans whose service, sacrifice, and strength continue to guide our community.”
More than 30 organizations are scheduled to participate, providing veterans with a one-stop opportunity to learn about programs available to them and their families. Participants include the Brookhaven Town Veterans Services Division, Suffolk County Veterans Services Agency, Northport VA Medical Center, Long Island State Veterans Home, Paws of War, United Veterans Beacon House and the Joseph P. Dwyer Veterans Peer Support Project.
Health care organizations including NYU Langone Health, Northwell Health Military Liaison Services, Stony Brook Cancer Center and Stony Brook Urology are also expected to attend.
Veterans can also connect with organizations providing legal assistance, financial services, peer support, housing programs, hospice care and other resources. Councilman Michael Loguercio, Town Board liaison to the Division of Veterans Services, said the fair allows veterans and their families to speak directly with organizations about their individual needs.
“Thank you to our veterans for the sacrifice that they made to protect our country,” Loguercio said.
Organizations interested in participating as vendors or those seeking additional information about the October 15th Veterans Resource Fair can contact the Brookhaven Department of General Services at 631-451-6331.
