Giglio Seeks Fourth State Assembly Term
Republican-Conservative Assemblywoman Jodi Giglio is running for a fourth term, pointing to high taxes, energy costs, public safety and her work for people with disabilities.

Assemblywoman Jodi Giglio is seeking a fourth term representing the 2nd Assembly District, running on the Republican and Conservative lines with a message centered on affordability, public safety and reducing the cost of living on Long Island.
A business owner since 1997 and member of Operating Engineers Local 138, Giglio said her experience in the private sector led her into government after battling costly land-use restrictions.
“I would like to see people flourish, have occupations, and be able to survive on Long Island these days,” Giglio said.
She criticized Albany’s spending, saying state government has become increasingly dependent on taxpayers.
“New York has both a spending and a taxing problem because they think that the pockets of the taxpayers are unlimited,” she said, adding that she strongly opposes raising or eliminating the state’s 2% property-tax cap.
Energy affordability is another campaign focus. Giglio said she opposes mandates forcing new construction toward all-electric systems and instead favors what she called an “all-energy approach.”
“We need nuclear, we need natural gas, we need oil,” she said. “We need whatever commodity is going to be the least expensive for the residents of Long Island at that particular time.”
On public safety, Giglio said judges should have greater authority when deciding bail.
“We need judges to be able to consider what the potential is for this person to commit another crime, seriousness of the crimes that are committed, and whether or not they are a danger to society,” she said.
Giglio also pointed to her work on behalf of people with disabilities, including legislation allowing counties to provide property-tax relief for qualifying homes held in trust for disabled residents.
She said constituent service remains a priority, particularly helping residents navigate state agencies.
Her Democrat opponent, Michael J. Szika, did not respond to a request to discuss his campaign. Kimberly Wilder is running for the seat on the Voter Options line, saying she wants to give voters an independent, progressive alternative to the two major parties.
The 2nd Assembly District includes Riverhead and communities across eastern Brookhaven, including Rocky Point, Miller Place, Mount Sinai, Wading River, Sound Beach, Shoreham, Manorville, Center Moriches, Moriches and portions of Ridge, Middle Island and East Moriches.
