Nor’easter Slams Brakes On Suffolk Police Car Auction

Suffolk County Police have postponed their vehicle auction as a powerful nor’easter continues to batter Long Island with heavy rain, strong winds and coastal flooding.

The department announced the auction, scheduled for September 26th at its impound facility at 100 Old Country Road in Westhampton, will not take place as planned. A new date will be announced.

The weather-related postponement comes as the slow-moving storm pounded Suffolk County.

The storm has been particularly rough along Suffolk’s shoreline.

The storm forced police to hit the brakes on an auction that was expected to put approximately 80 lots on the block, including sedans and SUVs.

Every vehicle was set to open with a minimum bid of $500, with all vehicles being sold as-is.

The department had also scheduled two days of public previews at the Westhampton impound yard ahead of the sale.

Police said the auction will be rescheduled, but no replacement date has been announced.
