William Floyd Golf Tournament Awards Record-Breaking 30 Scholarships

The annual William Floyd Scholarship Golf Tournament reached a milestone this year, awarding a record-breaking 30 scholarships to graduating students while bringing community leaders, sponsors and supporters together to invest in local youth.

The William Floyd Scholarship Committee awarded 30 scholarships of $1,000 each, providing $30,000 to students as they prepare for life after high school.

New York State Sen. Dean Murray praised the committee and community members who made the event possible.

“It was great to see so many friends at the William Floyd Scholarship Golf Tournament!” Murray said. “Congratulations to the Scholarship Committee on awarding a record-breaking 30 scholarships of $1,000 each to support William Floyd students as they begin their next chapter in life.”

Murray called the tournament “an outstanding event for a great cause” and thanked those who continue to invest in local students.

Brookhaven Town Supervisor Dan Panico also praised the scholarship fund and those behind the annual event, held at Bellport Country Club.

“Thank you to everyone who works so hard to coordinate this wonderful event, as well as all of the participants, sponsors, and donors who help make it possible and support these deserving students,” Panico said.

Panico, a sponsor of the event, said he was proud to “help support the next generation of William Floyd graduates.”

The tournament continues a community tradition of helping graduating seniors pursue their educational and career goals while easing some of the financial burden of their next chapter.

The William Floyd School District serves more than 9,400 students across 10 K-12 schools. It includes William Floyd High School, two middle schools, five elementary schools, the Floyd Academy and William Floyd Learning Center.
