Brookhaven Ready to "Run the Farm" Once Again

Lace up your running shoes because one of Brookhaven's favorite summer traditions is almost here.

On Saturday, Aug. 15, at 9 a.m., the ShopRite Run the Farm returns to Hobbs Community Farm, located at 178 Oxhead Road in Centereach, for another morning of fitness, fun, and community spirit.

Now celebrating its 12th year, the annual event welcomes runners, walkers, families, and supporters of all ages to enjoy a unique four-mile course through one of Brookhaven's most scenic locations. Whether you're looking to set a personal best or simply enjoy a morning stroll, the race offers something for everyone.

Participants will begin on approximately two miles of flat terrain before taking on a mile of gentle rolling hills. The course concludes with two challenging climbs leading runners to the beautiful grounds of Hobbs Community Farm, where they'll be greeted with a rewarding finish and the satisfaction of supporting a great cause.

While the race is always a fun community event, its mission is what truly makes it special. One hundred percent of the proceeds benefit Hobbs Community Farm, helping provide fresh, locally grown produce to individuals and families in need throughout the Brookhaven community. Every registration helps support the farm's ongoing efforts to fight food insecurity while promoting healthy living and local agriculture.

Brookhaven Town Clerk Kevin J. LaValle is encouraging residents to mark their calendars and take part in this annual tradition, whether as a runner, walker, volunteer, or spectator.

With another great turnout expected, the ShopRite Run the Farm promises to once again combine exercise, community pride, and charitable giving into one memorable morning.
