The Center Moriches golf team made a little school history this week, and it did so by putting together one of the best rounds in program history.

The Red Devils picked up an impressive victory over Southampton, but the win was only part of the story. Center Moriches also established a new team scoring record, posting a remarkable score of 212.

The record-setting performance was a terrific display of consistency and teamwork from a group that was determined to make its mark on the course. Rather than relying on one standout performance, the Red Devils put together a complete team effort from top to bottom.

Leading Center Moriches on the course were Jude Hersh, Shayd Hersh, Liam Cressy, Cameron Eten, JT Bonventre and Charlie Edwards. Each player played an important role in helping the Red Devils reach the record-setting total and come away with the victory.

A team score of 212 is a significant accomplishment and gives the Center Moriches program another milestone to celebrate as the season continues. Records are always special, but setting one while defeating a strong Southampton team makes the achievement even more meaningful.

For the players, the round was a reflection of the work they have put in throughout the season. Golf can be an individual sport in many ways, but team matches require every player to contribute, and Center Moriches received the type of collective performance that coaches hope to see.

The Red Devils now have a new number to chase whenever they step onto the course: 212.

More importantly, the record-setting round gives Center Moriches some momentum as the season moves forward. With Hersh, Hersh, Cressy, Eten, Bonventre and Edwards leading the way, the Red Devils have shown they have the talent and consistency to continue making noise on the course.

For a program that just rewrote its own record book, this was a round that will be remembered long after the final scorecard was signed.
