Eastport-South Manor is celebrating an incredible international accomplishment by one of its newest graduates.

Ayden DesLauriers, a member of the ESM Class of 2025 and a proud Eastport-South Manor native, recently helped the U.S. Men’s U23 National Team capture its first-ever Men’s U23 Pan American Cup championship in San Salvador, El Salvador.

Now a sophomore outside hitter at Loyola University Chicago, DesLauriers played a key role throughout the tournament and saved one of his biggest performances for the biggest moment.

In the gold-medal match against Costa Rica, DesLauriers contributed 10 points to help the United States secure the championship and make history by winning the tournament for the first time.

His strong play was not limited to the championship match. DesLauriers delivered a standout performance in the semifinal against Mexico, recording six kills while hitting an impressive .500 as the United States swept Mexico to advance to the gold-medal match.

His international opportunity came after he participated in an intensive selection block at the Olympic and Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, where he competed for a spot on the U.S. U23 roster.

For ESM, watching one of its own compete on an international stage has been a source of tremendous pride. DesLauriers’ journey is another example of the opportunities that can come from hard work, dedication and a strong foundation at the high school level.

“ESM is immensely proud of everything Ayden continues to achieve on and off the court. Seeing one of our own excel on the international stage inspires our entire community,” said Athletic Director Patrick Hayes.

DesLauriers’ success is especially impressive considering he only graduated from ESM in 2025. Just over a year removed from his high school career, the Eastport-South Manor alumnus is already representing his country and helping the United States bring home international hardware.

From the courts of Eastport-South Manor to the international volleyball stage, DesLauriers is proving that the journey is just beginning.
