Longwood Lions Roar Past Pat-Med

The Longwood Lions put together a dominant performance on both sides of the football this week, rolling past Patchogue-Medford, 42-10, in a Suffolk I matchup.

Longwood’s offense provided plenty of fireworks, while the defense made sure the Raiders never had an opportunity to mount a serious comeback. The Lions scored 14 points in three of the game’s four quarters and allowed just one touchdown throughout the afternoon.

In fact, Pat-Med’s only touchdown came from the defense. Andrew Johnstone recovered a fumble and returned it 30 yards for a touchdown, accounting for the Raiders’ lone trip to the end zone.

Longwood quarterback Ryan Greene led the offensive attack, completing 6 of 10 passes for 131 yards and two touchdowns. The Lions also found plenty of success on the ground, giving Pat-Med’s defense a difficult afternoon.

Kyon Sarwari carried the ball 11 times for 62 yards and two touchdowns, while Travis Gibbs broke loose for a 62-yard touchdown run.

The Lions also received big plays through the air. Mark Davis hauled in a 54-yard touchdown pass, while Nyyir Thomas added a 7-yard touchdown reception. Sergio Augello contributed another big play on the ground, scoring on a 45-yard touchdown run.

Makai Jacobs was also a key contributor in the passing game, catching three passes for 53 yards.

The victory improves Longwood to 2-1 in Suffolk I and gives the Lions some strong momentum as they move into the next portion of their schedule. Longwood has shown the ability to make plays both through the air and on the ground, while the defense continues to limit opposing offenses.

The Lions will now hit the road again for another challenging matchup, traveling to face Sachem North.

For Patchogue-Medford, the search for the first victory of the season continues. The Raiders will look to get into the win column when they take on Riverhead in their next game.
