Longwood Standout to Represent Uruguay

Longwood has another young athlete making the community proud.

Jayce Carrillo-Maldonado, an incoming seventh grader and standout player with the Longwood Soccer Thundercats, has earned an incredible opportunity to represent Uruguay at the 2026 International Youth World Challenge, which will be held at Stony Brook University.

Competing in an international tournament is a dream for many young athletes, and Jayce will now have the chance to showcase his skills while representing his family's heritage against talented players from around the world. The event will bring together youth teams from multiple countries, creating an exciting atmosphere of high-level competition, sportsmanship, and cultural pride.

For Jayce, the tournament is the result of countless hours spent developing his game on the field. From local youth soccer matches to now competing on an international stage, his hard work and dedication have earned him a once-in-a-lifetime experience that he will remember for years to come.
