The Patchogue-Medford girls tennis team is finding its groove at exactly the right time.

While the Raiders are still chasing unbeaten William Floyd at the top of the standings, Pat-Med has put together an impressive run of its own, winning four straight matches in dominant fashion and staking its claim as one of the top teams in Suffolk County.

The Raiders haven't simply been winning — they've been taking care of business in a big way.

Pat-Med has won each of its last three matches by a 7-0 score, putting together a remarkable stretch of tennis while continuing to build momentum heading toward the playoffs.

The latest victory came against Connetquot, where the Raiders once again showed why they have become one of the teams to watch in the division.

Sydney Champlin and Emily Cardenas provided the clinching victory, defeating Connetquot's Ashley Laura and Evita Rugeinus in a thrilling three-set battle, 6-3, 6-7 (12), 10-8.

The match was anything but easy. After taking the opening set, Champlin and Cardenas found themselves pushed to the limit in the second set, which went to a tiebreaker before Connetquot forced a deciding set.

The Pat-Med duo responded when it mattered most, winning the final set 10-8 to secure the match and officially punch the Raiders' ticket to the playoffs.

That victory capped another dominant performance for a team that has clearly found its rhythm.
