Smithtown Capture Conference Championship

The Smithtown High School East boys varsity golf team has plenty to celebrate after capturing the Conference Championship, capping off an impressive performance by a group of golfers who have put in the work throughout the season.

Leading the way for the Bulls was Sean Power, who turned in an outstanding round of 2-under-par 70 to pace the team. Power’s performance highlighted a strong showing by Smithtown East, which demonstrated the depth and consistency needed to come away with a conference title.

Joey Scholz also delivered an impressive round, carding a 75, while Colin Clarke finished with a 78. Both golfers earned All-Conference honors, adding another accomplishment to an already memorable day for the Bulls.

With Power, Scholz and Clarke leading the charge, Smithtown East showed that its success is about more than one standout performance. The team’s depth has been an important factor in its ability to compete at a high level, and the conference championship represents a significant reward for the players’ dedication throughout the season.

The focus now shifts to the individual postseason for Power, Scholz, Clarke, Brendan Clarke and Cole Kozak, who have qualified to compete for a spot in next week’s Individual Suffolk County Championship. The five golfers will look to carry their momentum into the qualifying round and earn the opportunity to compete against the county’s best.

While the individual qualifiers prepare for their next challenge, the Bulls also have their sights set on the team playoffs. Smithtown East is scheduled to begin its postseason run with a first-round matchup on October 22.

After capturing the conference crown, the Bulls have established themselves as a team to watch as the postseason gets underway. With individual opportunities on the horizon and the team playoffs approaching, Smithtown East will look to keep its strong season rolling when it matters most.
