The Stony Brook University football team continued its strong season Saturday afternoon, earning a 27-17 road victory over Bryant to improve to 5-3 overall and 2-1 in Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) play.

The Seawolves received a big offensive performance from Seth Sweitzer, who caught eight passes for 122 yards and two touchdowns. Quarterback Quinn Boyd completed 19 of 26 passes for 264 yards, helping Stony Brook move the ball consistently against the Bryant defense. Running back CJ Hester also made his presence felt, rushing for 64 yards on 18 carries and adding a touchdown. Hester’s score was his 12th rushing touchdown of the season, leading the CAA.

Stony Brook’s defense played a major role in securing the victory, delivering key stops and creating turnovers when they mattered most. Ryan Barrett paced the Seawolves with a season-high 12 tackles, recording his first double-digit tackle performance of the year. Khalid Bueno continued his standout season with six tackles and two sacks. Bueno now has 12 sacks and 19 tackles for loss, leading the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) in both categories. His ability to pressure opposing quarterbacks has been a major part of the Seawolves’ defensive success. Joseph Garcia also came up with a key play, recording his second interception of the season and the sixth of his career, the most among active players on Stony Brook’s roster.

On special teams, Michael Mannino was perfect on all three extra-point attempts and connected on field goals from 25 and 43 yards. Bryant continued to battle, but Stony Brook’s defense delivered in the closing minutes, forcing another fumble to help preserve the 10-point victory.

With contributions on offense, defense and special teams, the Seawolves earned an important conference road win and continued building momentum as the season moves forward.
