The Three Village (Ward Melville) girls cross country team continued to showcase its talent with a series of impressive individual performances at the Manhattan University Cross Country Invitational at Van Cortlandt Park.
Competing in the Girls Varsity B race, sophomores Isabella Horn and Lauren Casey delivered strong finishes against a competitive field. Horn placed seventh overall with a time of 15:33.0, while Casey followed closely behind in ninth place, crossing the finish line in 15:43.2.
The two sophomores demonstrated the depth of the Three Village program, with both runners finishing among the top 10 in their race. Their performances added another highlight to a season that has already featured several notable results for the Ward Melville athletes.
The team's younger runners also made their presence felt at the Manhattan meet. In the Girls JV C race, eighth-grader Alessia Ritieni finished eighth overall with a time of 17:44.6, delivering an encouraging performance against older competition.
The latest results continued a strong run for Horn and Casey, who had already made headlines earlier in the season at the Regis Invitational on Sept. 19.
At that meet, Casey captured first place overall with a time of 15:39.28, while Horn finished third in 15:40.31. The two sophomores were separated by just over one second, highlighting the competitive spirit and consistency that have helped make them important contributors to the program.
Their performances at both Manhattan-area invitationals reflect the hard work and dedication that go into cross country, where runners must balance endurance, pacing and determination over every mile.
With Horn and Casey providing strong results at the varsity level and Ritieni gaining valuable experience among the junior varsity runners, Three Village continues to see contributions from athletes across different grade levels.
The Ward Melville program's showing at Van Cortlandt Park offered another encouraging snapshot of the team's talent, with its runners delivering top-10 finishes and building on the momentum established earlier in the season.
