Center Moriches Students Head Back To Class

The hallways are buzzing again as students across the Center Moriches School District returned to class, kicking off the 2026-27 school year.

Students from pre-K through 12th grade headed back to Clayton Huey Elementary School, Center Moriches Middle School and Center Moriches High School, where teachers, administrators and staff welcomed them for another year of classes, activities and athletics.

“The beginning of a new school year is filled with excitement and possibility,” Superintendent Dr. Ricardo Soto said. “We are thrilled to welcome our students back and look forward to all they will accomplish, the relationships they will build, and the experiences they will share throughout the year.”

Soto was joined by Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Data Management Dr. Jaime Bottcher, Assistant Superintendent for Business Fernando Osorio, principals, administrators and staff in welcoming students.

At Clayton Huey, school officials declared the opening days a success, celebrating the return of laughter and conversation to hallways that had been quiet during summer.

“Our entire school community is ready for a wonderful year of learning and growth,” Soto said.

The district also enters the year with a 2026-27 budget approved by voters in May, 421-325. District officials said the spending plan maintains student programs while supporting facility upgrades and capital projects.
