East Hampton Man Found Dead in Three Mile Harbor Waters
Clammers discovered Edward Garbowski, 62, on a grassy island in Springs Friday evening

Clammers working Three Mile Harbor in Springs made a grim discovery Friday evening, finding a man's body on a small grass island in the water off Folkstone Road, East Hampton Town police said.
Detectives identified the man as Edward J. Garbowski, 62, of East Hampton. Police said Garbowski had clamming equipment with him, suggesting he had been harvesting shellfish in the area before he died.
A preliminary investigation indicated Garbowski may have suffered a medical emergency before his death, police said. Detectives found no evidence of suspicious circumstances or foul play.
The Suffolk County Medical Examiner's Office is working with the East Hampton Town Police Department Detective Division to investigate the circumstances of the death. The cause and manner of death remain pending the Medical Examiner's report, police said.
Anyone with information about the incident was asked to contact East Hampton Town Police at 631-537-7575.
