William Floyd Graduation Rate Hits 95%

The William Floyd School District has reached a 95% four-year graduation rate for the Class of 2026, continuing a long-term increase in the number of students completing high school on time.

The district’s overall four-year graduation rate has increased 28 percentage points since the 2006-07 school year, when it stood at 67%. The graduation rate for general education students has increased from 80% in 2015-16 to 95% this year.

Students with disabilities have also experienced significant gains. Their four-year graduation rate increased from 46% in 2015-16 to 85% in 2025-26, a 39-percentage-point increase. The district currently serves approximately 1,592 students with disabilities.

Superintendent of Schools Kevin M. Coster credited students, families and district employees for the results.

“These results reflect the dedication and hard work of our students, families, teachers, support staff, administrators, and Board of Education,” Coster said.

William Floyd currently serves approximately 9,647 students and offers academic, special education, multilingual and social-emotional support programs.

Approximately 1,477 students are identified as English Language Learners.

The district has expanded individualized programming, targeted interventions and multiple graduation pathways designed to prepare students for college, careers or military service.

William Floyd also operates nine Career and Technical Education programs, including Automotive Technology, Barbering, Carpentry, Cosmetology, Culinary Arts, Marine & Motorsports, Medical Assisting and Personal Trainer & Group Fitness. A Mental Health Professional Academy is being added this school year.

Board of Education President April Coppola said the district intends to continue expanding student opportunities and strengthening instruction and intervention.

“A 95% graduation rate is more than a number,” Coppola said. “It represents thousands of students reaching an important milestone and moving forward toward college, careers and military service.”
