Head-On Crash on Noyac Road Injures Three, One Airlifted

Three people were injured and both vehicles were totaled after two trucks collided head-on along Noyac Road in Southampton on Wednesday morning, with one person needing to be airlifted to a trauma center, police said.

The collision occurred at 6:50 a.m. near the intersection of Noyac Road and Lohan Court, Southampton Town police said. A gray 2024 Ford F-150 XLT pickup heading westbound and a white 2018 Ford van traveling eastbound met each other head-on at that location.

The sole male occupant of the pickup suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening, police said.

Two men were inside the van — a driver and a passenger. The force of the impact left the driver pinned inside the vehicle, and members of the North Sea Fire Department had to deploy extrication equipment to pull him free. He was subsequently airlifted by the Suffolk County Police Department's aviation unit to Stony Brook University Hospital, where his injuries were characterized as more serious than those sustained by the other two victims, police said. The van's passenger was taken by Southampton Volunteer Ambulance to a local hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, police said.

Responding to the scene were Southampton Town police patrol officers and detectives, along with the Southampton Volunteer Ambulance and the North Sea Fire Department.

Noyac Road was closed in both directions between Water Mill Towd Road and Roses Grove Road from the time of the crash until around 10:15 a.m., as investigators carried out their preliminary inquiry and tow crews worked to clear the wreckage, police said. Officers noted that the extent of the damage made for a lengthy removal operation.
