Illegal Immigrant Admits Sexual Assault Inside T.J. Maxx

An illegal immigrant from Honduras has pleaded guilty to sexually abusing three young girls inside a Medford TJ Maxx, where prosecutors say surveillance cameras captured his disturbing conduct.

Jimmy Harry Velasquezgomez, 44, pleaded guilty Wednesday to three counts of first-degree sexual abuse, a violent felony, Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney announced.

Prosecutors said Velasquezgomez targeted girls ages 7, 9 and 11 during three separate visits to the store in 2025.

The first incident occurred April 19, when a 7-year-old girl received permission from her mother to browse the toy aisle. Velasquezgomez approached and squeezed the child's buttocks, prosecutors said. She immediately ran back to her mother, who called police.

On Sept. 20, an 11-year-old girl shopping for a gift allegedly spotted Velasquezgomez holding his genitals through his clothing. He later walked past her and grabbed her buttocks, authorities said.

A third attack occurred Oct. 29, when prosecutors said Velasquezgomez approached a 9-year-old girl in the toy section, lifted the bottom of her sweatshirt and squeezed her buttocks.

Surveillance video captured Velasquezgomez inside the store on all three dates, prosecutors said. Footage from the October incident also allegedly showed him touching his genitals over his clothing while staring at the 9-year-old.

Police arrested Velasquezgomez Nov. 1 in East Islip. He has remained jailed since.

“This defendant deliberately targeted innocent children as they went about their daily lives, exploiting their vulnerability for his own sickening purposes,” Tierney said.

Velasquezgomez is scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 9 to six years in prison on each count, served concurrently, followed by 10 years of post-release supervision.
