Losquadro’s Record of Results Earns Our Endorsement
With decades of experience in county, state and town government, Brookhaven Highway Superintendent Dan Losquadro offers the proven leadership, financial expertise and commitment to accountability Suffolk taxpayers deserve.

Experience matters when taxpayers entrust someone with overseeing billions of dollars in public funds, and few candidates bring a stronger combination of government knowledge, executive leadership and proven results than Brookhaven Highway Superintendent Dan Losquadro.
The South Shore Press confidently endorses Losquadro for Suffolk County Comptroller, recognizing a public servant who has demonstrated that government can operate more efficiently, embrace innovation and deliver results.
His opponent, Jonathan Estreich, has an impressive background as well, but not the same level of management experience in government as Losquadro. The Army Reserve major and former Suffolk County prosecutor and MTA investigator won our respect when he refused to quit the race under a cross-party deal cooked up by Democrat leader Rich Schaffer.
Losquadro’s qualifications are exceptional. A former Suffolk County legislator and Republican conference leader, New York State assemblyman and 13-year Brookhaven Highway Superintendent, he understands government from virtually every angle. He has negotiated county budgets, examined state spending and managed one of Long Island’s largest municipal departments.
His transformation of the Brookhaven Highway Department speaks volumes about his leadership. Losquadro modernized operations, established emergency response protocols, improved management systems and built an organization designed to function efficiently long after his departure.
That is precisely the kind of leadership Suffolk needs in its next financial watchdog.
Losquadro brings more than administrative experience. His background in construction, insurance claims and fraud investigation gives him a practical understanding of expenditures, contracts and the opportunities for waste and abuse.
His priorities include pursuing uncollected hotel and motel taxes from short-term rental platforms, scrutinizing healthcare expenditures, strengthening audits and utilizing technology to identify questionable spending.
Equally important is his willingness to challenge entrenched practices. As Losquadro puts it, telling him something is done a certain way simply because “that’s the way we’ve always done it” guarantees a negative response.
Losquadro respects the accomplishments of outgoing Comptroller John Kennedy while recognizing that government must continually improve.
Dan Losquadro has spent his career preparing for precisely this responsibility. The South Shore Press gives him its unequivocal endorsement for Suffolk County Comptroller.
