Rocky Point Roads Get Major Upgrade
Brookhaven Town Highway Superintendent Daniel P. Losquadro and Councilwoman Jane Bonner announced the completion of a major paving and drainage project that improved 12 roads in Rocky Point while helping reduce costs for taxpayers through state grant funding.

Brookhaven Town Highway Superintendent Daniel P. Losquadro and Councilwoman Jane Bonner announced the completion of a major paving and drainage project that improved 12 roads in Rocky Point while helping reduce costs for taxpayers through state grant funding.
Before resurfacing began, Highway Department crews installed new drainage infrastructure on Undine Road to address chronic flooding issues in the neighborhood. The drainage improvements totaled $178,219.
The road resurfacing portion of the project cost $202,995, with $173,748 covered through a federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), significantly reducing the local taxpayer share.
The roads included in the project were Diana Road, Dryad Road, Isis Road, Lyre Road, Naiad Road, Nautilus Drive, Poseidon Road, Tarn Road, Thor Road, Undine Road, Valhal Road and Valkyr Road.
"I am grateful that we were able to utilize CDBG funding to pay for the majority of the road resurfacing in this project," Losquadro said. "This grant funding helps offset taxpayer costs for local infrastructure repairs, paving projects and improving stormwater drainage."
Town Supervisor Dan Panico praised the collaborative effort behind the project.
"We appreciate the work of our Highway Superintendent here in Rocky Point, and the wise application of CDBG funds by our HHS Commissioner Alison Karppi," Panico said. "We work together as a team in Brookhaven."
Bonner said the project delivers lasting benefits for area residents.
"Road paving and drainage improvements are among the most important services we provide to residents," she said.
"This project will make a meaningful difference for homeowners in this Rocky Point neighborhood. I am proud that we were able to help secure funding to complete the work while reducing the burden on taxpayers, and I thank Superintendent Losquadro and the Highway Department crews for their work on behalf of the community."
