Another Summer, Another Title for Pat-Med

The Patchogue-Medford boys soccer team added another championship to its impressive résumé this summer, capturing the Josh Butzke Memorial 7v7 Summer Tournament title once again.

Senior captain Jeremy Galvez played the hero in the championship match, scoring the game-winning goal to lift Pat-Med to another memorable tournament victory. His clutch finish capped an outstanding performance by the Raiders, who continued their tradition of excellence in one of Long Island's premier summer soccer events.

Hosted by Coach Camarda and the Rocky Point Soccer program, the tournament has grown into a cherished annual tradition, bringing together some of the area's top high school soccer talent while honoring the memory of Josh Butzke.

Established in 2018 by the Josh Butzke Foundation in partnership with the Town of Brookhaven Soccer Program, the tournament celebrates competition, sportsmanship and community while remembering Josh's lasting impact on the local soccer family. Over the years, the event has become one of the highlights of the summer soccer calendar on Long Island.

For Patchogue-Medford, success in the tournament has become a familiar theme. The Raiders have now captured the championship four times in the last six tournaments, including an impressive run of three consecutive titles from 2021 through 2023. This year's victory further solidifies the program as one of the tournament's most successful teams.

The championship also provides valuable experience for players as they prepare for the upcoming high school season. Summer tournaments offer athletes the opportunity to sharpen their skills, build chemistry and compete against quality opponents before the regular season begins.

Led by veteran leadership and a competitive roster, Patchogue-Medford once again demonstrated the teamwork, determination and resilience that have become hallmarks of the program.

The annual Josh Butzke Memorial Tournament continues to bring together players, coaches and families from across Long Island in a celebration of soccer and community. For the Raiders, adding another championship to the program's growing collection made this year's event even more memorable.

With another trophy heading back to Patchogue-Medford, the Raiders have once again proven they remain one of Long Island's premier soccer programs and will undoubtedly be a team to watch when the fall season kicks off.
