Bay Shore High School football celebrated a remarkable milestone earlier this year, marking the 100th season of football in Bay Shore Schools with a special celebration that brought generations of Marauders together.

The history of Bay Shore football dates back to 1927, when the school’s original team took the field for the first time against Patchogue-Medford. Nearly a century later, the two schools met again, this time with the Marauders commemorating 100 seasons of football.

Before kickoff, Bay Shore hosted a special gathering for former football players and coaches. Alumni had the opportunity to reconnect with former teammates, coaches and friends while sharing memories and stories from seasons gone by.

After reliving those memories, the alumni lined the field to welcome the current Bay Shore players as they made their way onto the field for the commemorative game. It was a fitting moment that connected the past, present and future of Marauders football.

Two of the oldest alumni in attendance, Jimmy Jackson, a member of the Class of 1952, and Paul Boghosian, Class of 1955, received a special honor as they served as honorary game captains for the coin toss.

The celebration continued at halftime, when Bay Shore recognized current and former head football coaches who have helped shape the program throughout its long history.

While the day was focused on celebrating the past, the current Marauders made sure to give their alumni something to cheer about.

Bay Shore defeated Patchogue-Medford, 8-7, earning its second victory of the season.

From the first team that took the field in 1927 to the players representing Bay Shore today, the commemorative game served as a reminder of the generations of athletes, coaches, families and supporters who have helped make Marauders football such an important part of the school community.

One hundred seasons later, the tradition continues.
