The Bayport-Blue Point Phantoms gave their home crowd plenty to celebrate during homecoming, cruising to a 23-0 victory over Babylon and improving to a perfect 3-0 on the season.

From kickoff through halftime performances and everything in between, it was a memorable homecoming celebration in Bayport-Blue Point. The Phantoms made sure the festivities continued on the field with another impressive performance on both sides of the football.

The offensive star of the afternoon was Josh Franchak, who powered his way through the Babylon defense for 174 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 18 carries. Franchak’s big day helped lead Bayport-Blue Point to the Suffolk IV victory while continuing the Phantoms’ impressive start to the season.

The defense was just as dominant.

Jamison Hawkins and Pat Ahern led the Phantoms with six tackles apiece. Hawkins also came up with an interception, while Ahern was a force in the backfield with two sacks.

Ryan Kloss contributed six carries for just under 40 yards, while Matt Bachmore also carried the ball six times. Bachmore additionally completed four of seven passes as the Phantoms continued to find ways to move the football.

While the offense continues to put points on the board, it has been the Bayport-Blue Point defense that has really grabbed the attention through the first three games.

The Phantoms have allowed just 16 points all season and have surrendered only two touchdowns through three games. That type of defensive consistency has helped Bayport-Blue Point remain unbeaten and establish itself as one of the teams to watch in Suffolk IV.

Now 3-0, the Phantoms will hit the road this week for another Suffolk IV matchup against Harborfields.

With a powerful running game and a defense that has been extremely difficult to score against, Bayport-Blue Point heads into the next challenge with plenty of momentum — and plenty of reasons for the community to be excited about what comes next.
