September just opened the door a crack. Rosters expand Tuesday, fantasy playoffs are already rolling in a ton of leagues, and three outfield bats just became the highest-leverage adds on the wire for different reasons that all point the same way: you need production for the final month, and these guys can give it to you.

Roman Anthony, OF/DH, Red Sox

Add him yesterday if he's still out there.

Anthony came off the 60-day IL Sunday, led off as the DH against the Yankees, and went 2-for-4 with a double in his first game back. That is not a soft reintroduction. Boston put him at the top of a playoff-chasing lineup immediately, and the rehab line (.280 with two doubles and two homers across eight games between Double-A and Worcester, .967 OPS) actually looked like the guy who hit .292/.396/.463 with eight homers in 71 games as a rookie in 2025.

Yes, he was a mess in the 30 games before the finger injury (.229/.354/.321, one homer). Finger tendons take forever, and that early-season version of Anthony is why some managers will hesitate. Do not hesitate. You are not buying April Roman Anthony. You are buying a 22-year-old with real power/on-base upside locked into Boston's primary DH role for a team fighting for October.

Redraft: Must-add in every format. Blow remaining FAAB if you have to. Deep / AL-only: Already rostered in most; if not, max bid. Dynasty: Hold forever. This was always the long-term profile.

Walker Jenkins, OF, Twins

Minnesota finally stopped waiting. Jenkins' contract was selected Friday from Triple-A St. Paul, he debuted in center, and Byron Buxton's hip then put Buxton on the IL. That is about as clean a playing-time path as a top prospect gets in late August.

At St. Paul he was .308/.407/.532 with 12 homers and 17 steals in 307 plate appearances, then went nuclear in August (.411/.488/.795 with eight homers and seven steals in 18 games). In his second big-league game he already had a double, an RBI, and a stolen base. The Twins did not call him up to platoon him into irrelevance while Buxton sits.

The only real risk is Minnesota being weird once Buxton returns and shoving Jenkins into a corner with light usage. Even then, Trevor Larnach's August has been brutal, so the corner path is still open. For fantasy playoffs you care about the next three weeks of at-bats, and Jenkins should get them.

Redraft: Priority add in 12-team and up. Power-speed stash that is already producing. 15-team / AL-only: Auto-add. Dynasty: Elite keep. Do not trade him for a streaming starter.

Lazaro Montes, OF, Mariners

Confirmed for Tuesday. Ryan Divish and Francys Romero both have Montes joining the Mariners when rosters expand to 28 on September 1. He will not debut in Monday's Fenway opener, but the call-up is locked.

The minor-league power is loud: .247/.365/.556 with 38 home runs and a 137 wRC+ between Double-A Arkansas and Triple-A Tacoma. Only Andrew Fischer has more homers in the minors this year. MLB Pipeline has him as Seattle's No. 5 prospect and No. 56 overall. He was headed for the 40-man anyway as a Rule 5 candidate; Seattle is just accelerating the timeline while the big-league club fades out of the race.

The playing-time question is real. Arozarena, Julio Rodriguez, and Taylor Ward still exist, and Canzone eats DH against righties. On a seller/rebuild stretch, though, Montes should get a look, and 38-homer bats do not stay buried for a full month if they show anything. This is the speculative September power dart for leagues that still have FAAB or a free roster spot.

Redraft (12-team): Speculative stash only if you need raw power and have a free bench spot. 15-team / deeper: Strong add. Upside outweighs the OF logjam for one month. Dynasty: Easy add wherever available. September audition plus Rule 5 protection is the profile you want.

Priority order this week: Anthony first, Jenkins second, Montes third. Same category of player (OF bats arriving for the stretch), three different confidence levels. If you can only claim one, take the Red Sox leadoff DH who is already in the lineup.
