Dylan Cease (SP, Blue Jays) — shoulder inflammation

An MRI on Cease's right shoulder came back clean of structural damage, just inflammation. That's the good news. The bad news is he's skipping his scheduled start and his availability for the rest of the year is up in the air. For a Toronto team fighting for the AL East, that's a real rotation hole.

Alex Bregman (3B, Cubs) — facial fractures

Bregman took a foul ball to the face on Sunday and came away with multiple facial fractures. The silver lining is no surgery and a possible postseason return, but he's not helping your lineup down the stretch. Losing a steady bat like his hurts in the final scoring period.

Who benefits: Matt Shaw. With Bregman on the shelf, the Cubs slide their younger infielder into everyday reps at third. That's a steady stream of at-bats in a good lineup during a week when you're desperate for anyone with a locked-in role. Grab him if you're short an infielder.

Blade Tidwell (SP, Giants) — elbow/arm

Tidwell walked off the mound with right elbow discomfort after 3.1 innings against the Twins. Any time a pitcher exits with elbow trouble, you assume the worst until told otherwise, and with the season nearly over there's little reason to rush him back. Drop him in redraft and just monitor the diagnosis for dynasty purposes.

Who benefits: The Giants have been shuffling arms up from Triple-A all month, so expect the next man up to soak up Tidwell's turn. Nobody here is a must-add in the final week, but if San Francisco names a starter for that vacated slot, he's a matchup-dependent streamer at best.

Aaron Judge (OF, Yankees) - Calf

Judge is dealing with a nagging issue as the Yankees try to hold off Tampa Bay in the East. Losing the best hitter in the sport, even for a stretch of days, is a gut punch for fantasy managers who ride him. Keep tabs on his day-to-day status. This is also caution for next year injury concerns with Judge
