Nearly 200 young football players had the opportunity to learn from two of Long Island's own this past week as the inaugural Dylan Laube and Matt Goncalves Youth Football Camp took place at Westhampton Beach High School.

The camp brought together aspiring athletes from across the region for a day of instruction, encouragement, and unforgettable memories. Laube, a Westhampton Beach High School graduate entering his third season with the Las Vegas Raiders, and Goncalves, a Manorville native and Eastport-South Manor graduate who now plays for the Indianapolis Colts, led campers through a variety of football drills focused on skill development, agility, and speed.

Following the on-field instruction, the two NFL players spent more than 30 minutes signing autographs, posing for photos, and talking with campers and their families, creating lasting memories for the next generation of Long Island football players.

For Laube, returning home to give back to the community that helped shape his journey to the NFL was especially meaningful.

"If you don't come back and help where it all started, then what's the point?" Laube said.

Goncalves shared that same commitment to inspiring young athletes, emphasizing the importance of showing local players that achieving their dreams is possible through hard work, dedication, and perseverance.

The camp was about much more than football. It gave children the chance to interact with professional athletes who once stood in their shoes, proving that success can begin on the fields of Long Island.

With the overwhelming response to the inaugural event, Laube and Goncalves hope to make the youth camp an annual tradition. Their vision is to continue providing local athletes with the opportunity to improve their skills while learning valuable lessons about teamwork, discipline, and giving back to the community.

For the nearly 200 campers who attended, it was a day filled with football, fun, and inspiration—and a reminder that some of the biggest dreams can begin right in their own backyard.
