The Half Hollow Hills girls flag football team had a special night at MetLife Stadium last week, receiving a championship honor in front of a crowd of New York Jets fans.
The Red Colts were honored during halftime of the Jets' preseason game as they received their NYSPHSAA Class A state championship rings, officially celebrating one of the most successful seasons in the program's history.
And what a season it was.
Half Hollow Hills capped an incredible 19-0 campaign by capturing the school's first-ever state championship in girls flag football.
The undefeated season was a remarkable accomplishment for a program that continues to help establish girls flag football as an important part of the high school sports landscape across Long Island and New York State.
For the players, getting their championship rings was already going to be a memorable moment. Doing it at halftime of a Jets preseason game made the celebration even bigger.
