The Long Island Ducks are officially being celebrated throughout Suffolk County after County Executive Ed Romaine declared Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2026, “Long Island Ducks Day” in recognition of the team’s historic run to the Atlantic League Championship.

Romaine joined members of the Ducks organization Tuesday at Fairfield Properties Ballpark to celebrate the team’s remarkable 2026 season and present the organization with an official county proclamation.

Joining Romaine for the celebration were Ducks President and Chief Business Officer Michael Pfaff, General Manager Sean Smith, Manager Lew Ford, 2026 Atlantic League Championship Series MVP Nick Margevicius and the team’s beloved mascot, QuackerJack.

The proclamation recognized the hard work, determination, teamwork and perseverance displayed by the Ducks throughout their championship season. It also highlighted the organization’s longstanding connection to the Long Island community and its role in bringing families together at the ballpark.

The Ducks certainly gave their fans plenty to celebrate this year. Long Island finished the 2026 regular season with the best record in the Atlantic League at 80-46, posting a franchise-record .635 winning percentage.

The postseason was even more impressive.

The Ducks swept both of their playoff series, defeating Hagerstown and Southern Maryland to finish a perfect 6-0 in the postseason. It marked the first 6-0 playoff run in franchise history and just the third time in Atlantic League history a team completed a postseason without a loss.

The championship was the fifth in Ducks history, joining previous titles in 2004, 2012, 2013 and 2019.

Romaine’s proclamation also recognized the players, coaches, front office staff and, perhaps most importantly, the loyal Ducks fans who helped make the championship season so special.

The Suffolk County proclamation is another recognition of what the Ducks have meant to the region since their arrival. With their fifth championship now added to the franchise history books, Ducks Nation has another memorable season to celebrate—and Oct. 6 will forever be remembered as Long Island Ducks Day.
