Valenti Earns State Medal

Shoreham-Wading River sophomore Frankie Valenti capped off an outstanding track and field season with an impressive performance at the NYSPHSAA State Championships, earning a spot among New York's best athletes.

Competing in the Class B Pentathlon, Valenti showcased his versatility, determination and athleticism by finishing third in New York State after battling through five demanding events. His outstanding performance earned him a place on the state podium and marked one of the top finishes of the season for Shoreham-Wading River.

The pentathlon is one of the most challenging events in high school track and field, requiring competitors to excel across multiple disciplines in a single competition. Athletes must combine speed, strength, endurance and technical skill while maintaining consistency throughout the day.

Valenti rose to the occasion, compiling an impressive total of 2,962 points to secure his third-place finish. He delivered one of the day's most memorable performances in the hurdles, where he claimed first place among the competition. He also reached a significant personal milestone in the 1,500-meter run, recording a personal-best time while breaking the five-minute barrier for the first time in his career.

The state championship performance highlights the tremendous progress Valenti has made in just his sophomore season. With two more years of high school competition ahead of him, his strong finish against some of New York's top athletes suggests an exciting future both for him and the Wildcats track and field program.
