William Floyd Golf Tournament Drives Past $700,000 Milestone

For nearly three decades, a group of dedicated community members has been making a difference in the lives of William Floyd students, and their efforts have now reached an impressive milestone. The William Floyd Scholarship Fund’s annual golf tournament has raised more than $700,000 for student scholarships throughout its 28-year history.
That remarkable achievement represents far more than a number. It reflects years of generosity, countless hours of volunteer work and a shared belief that every student deserves an opportunity to pursue a brighter future.
The milestone was recognized on October 20, when tournament organizers were presented with a plaque during the William Floyd School District Board of Education meeting.
Behind the success of the annual event is a dedicated organizing team consisting of Anthony Liberti, Barbara Liberti, Anthony Alfano, Anthony Coraci, Al Walter and Gina Walter of Century 21 Cor-Ace Realty. Year after year, they have helped bring together community members, alumni, local supporters and friends of the district for a day of golf with a purpose.
The money raised goes toward scholarships for graduating William Floyd seniors, helping ease the financial burden as they prepare for college, vocational training or other educational opportunities after high school.
To put the tournament’s impact into perspective, its $700,000 fundraising total is equivalent to 700 scholarships worth $1,000 each. For students and families facing the rising cost of education, that assistance can make a meaningful difference at an important time in their lives.
“Reaching this milestone is a testament to the dedication of the organizers, the generosity of participants and sponsors, and the continued support of everyone who has contributed to the tournament over the years,” said Kevin Coster, superintendent of schools for the William Floyd School District. “What began as an annual golf outing has grown into a lasting tradition that connects community involvement with meaningful educational opportunities.”
The tournament’s longevity is a testament to what can happen when people come together around a common goal. Its organizers have continued to invest their time and energy into an effort that benefits generations of local students, creating opportunities that extend well beyond the golf course.
After 28 years, the tournament’s greatest accomplishment may be the doors it has helped open for William Floyd graduates. With each passing year, the tradition continues to support students taking their next steps toward the future, proving that a community’s generosity can leave a lasting mark long after the final putt drops.
