Former Federal Prosecutor Seeks State's Highest Law Enforcement Office

Name: Saritha Komatireddy Office Sought: New York State Attorney General Political Party: Republican Current Position: Partner, Holtzman Vogel law firm Residence: Upper East Side, Manhattan Opponent: Democrat Attorney General Letitia James
From prosecuting international terrorists and Mexican drug cartels to overseeing operations at the Drug Enforcement Administration, Republican Saritha Komatireddy brings extensive federal law enforcement experience to her campaign for New York Attorney General.
The Brooklyn-born daughter of Indian immigrants is a Harvard College and Harvard Law School graduate whose career includes prosecuting Al Qaeda and ISIS operatives, international narcotics traffickers, cybercriminals and money launderers.
Following the September 11th terrorist attacks, Komatireddy pursued a legal career focused on national security.
She began as a law clerk for then-federal appellate Judge Brett Kavanaugh, now a U.S. Supreme Court justice, and later served as counsel to the federal commission investigating the BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill.
From 2013 to 2025, Komatireddy served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Eastern District of New York, handling some of the nation's most complex criminal prosecutions.
Her resume includes eight federal jury trials and 15 appeals before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
She held several leadership positions, including Chief of International Narcotics and Money Laundering, Deputy Chief of Appeals, Deputy Chief of General Crimes, and Computer Hacking and Intellectual Property Coordinator.
Komatireddy also served as Chief of Staff at the Drug Enforcement Administration, an agency employing approximately 10,000 people worldwide.
President Donald Trump nominated her for a federal judgeship in 2020, although she was never confirmed.
Her prosecutorial work earned three Attorney General's Awards, two Federal Drug Agents Foundation True American Hero Awards and two Federal Law Enforcement Foundation Prosecutor of the Year Awards.
Today, the mother of four is a partner at Holtzman Vogel and teaches at Columbia Law School.
Her campaign emphasizes prosecuting violent criminals, fighting Medicaid fraud, eliminating government corruption, supporting police and addressing homelessness through treatment and intervention.
Komatireddy says her extensive experience prosecuting terrorists, drug traffickers, cybercriminals and financial crimes gives her the background necessary to lead one of the nation's most powerful state law enforcement offices.
She is campaigning to restore public confidence in the Attorney General's Office by prioritizing public safety, protecting taxpayers, enforcing existing laws and holding criminals accountable.
Her central message: New York needs an experienced prosecutor focused on protecting families, fighting crime and restoring the rule of law.
