VIDEO VAULT: Komatireddy Pledges to Put Criminals Behind Bars Again

New York State Attorney General candidate Saritha Komatireddy says restoring public safety, supporting law enforcement and aggressively prosecuting crime would be her top priorities if elected.

Komatireddy, a former federal prosecutor, discussed her campaign with South Shore Press Managing Editor Stefan Mychajliw while guest hosting NewsRadio 930 WBEN.

Stefan Mychajliw: What did you hear from voters about crime and public safety?

Saritha Komatireddy: People are fed up. They're tired of crime, tired of seeing criminals avoid accountability and frustrated that they're paying higher taxes while feeling less safe. They want change.

Mychajliw: Is that what motivated you to run?

Komatireddy: Absolutely. I spent 12 years as a federal prosecutor taking on international terrorists, cartel leaders, gang members and cybercriminals. As a mother of four, I watched New York become less safe and decided someone from law enforcement needed to step forward.

Mychajliw: How does your prosecutorial background prepare you for the job?

Komatireddy: Prosecutors work with victims, witnesses and defendants every day. You learn that enforcing the law isn't about politics. It's about delivering justice, protecting communities and standing up for people who follow the rules.

Mychajliw: You've said this race isn't about party labels.

Komatireddy: That's right. This isn't Republican versus Democrat. It's about choosing a career prosecutor instead of a partisan politician. The attorney general should focus on fighting crime, fraud and homelessness, not political battles.

Mychajliw: You also criticized the state's handling of Medicaid fraud.

Komatireddy: The attorney general's office should aggressively prosecute Medicaid fraud and protect vulnerable patients. I believe that mission has been neglected, and I would make rebuilding those efforts a priority.

Mychajliw: What's your closing message to New Yorkers?

Komatireddy: My commitment is to protect every New Yorker, regardless of political affiliation. I'll wake up every day focused on making our communities safer, enforcing the law fairly and ensuring taxpayers receive the accountability they deserve.
