Film Examines China’s Efforts to Weaken America
A documentary warns that the Chinese Communist Party is pursuing a long-term strategy to exploit America’s technological vulnerabilities, political divisions and open society to weaken the United States from within.

With Chinese President Xi Jinping expected to visit Washington next month for a summit with President Donald Trump, increased attention is being focused on China’s relationship with America and the long-term threat Beijing may pose to U.S. national security.
Those concerns are at the center of “China’s Stealth Invasion,” a 70-minute investigative documentary examining what its filmmakers describe as a sweeping Chinese Communist Party campaign to infiltrate American institutions, exploit divisions within the country and challenge the United States for global dominance.
Produced by Luminous Films, the documentary was directed by Tobias Elvhage, written and produced by Tianliang Zhang and hosted by journalist and YouTuber David Zhang. It draws on interviews with former intelligence officials, national security experts, researchers and Chinese dissidents.
The film explores Chinese cyber intrusions into American computer systems, cellphone and national security vulnerabilities, FBI efforts to combat Chinese cyberattacks and alleged attempts by Beijing to influence prominent Americans and shape public opinion.
The documentary also examines “America Against America,” a book by Wang Huning, who later became one of the most powerful figures in China’s Communist Party leadership. Wang wrote the book after traveling throughout the United States and studying American society, politics and culture.
The filmmakers contend that Wang’s observations about political polarization, economic inequality and cultural divisions identified weaknesses that could be exploited by an adversary. They use his writings to support their broader argument that Beijing has developed a strategy for challenging the United States from within rather than relying solely on conventional military or economic confrontation.
“The Chinese Communist Party considers America its biggest enemy,” Zhang said in promotional material for the film, which is available free through the GJW+ streaming platform.
