A 20-year-old Patchogue man was killed when his motorcycle collided with a car making a left turn on Route 112 in Medford, Suffolk County Police said.

A 20-year-old Patchogue man was killed when his motorcycle collided with a car making a left turn on Route 112 in Medford, Suffolk County Police said.

Edison Aguilar was riding a 2008 Honda motorcycle northbound on Route 112 when the crash occurred at the intersection of Southaven Avenue.

According to police, a 2016 Toyota Matrix was traveling southbound on Route 112 and attempting to make a left turn at Southaven Avenue when Aguilar’s motorcycle struck the vehicle.

Aguilar was seriously injured in the collision and transported to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Toyota was driven by Maria Lobato, 44, of Medford. Lobato and a passenger traveling in her vehicle were not injured, police said.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety inspections as Suffolk County Police Fifth Squad detectives continue investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the collision or has information about the incident to contact Fifth Squad detectives at 631-852-8552.
