A Bellport tax preparer admitted stealing more than $260,000 from a Patchogue auto repair business, spending the money on mortgage payments, airline tickets, credit card bills and OnlyFans subscriptions, prosecutors announced.

Fabian Delgado, 34, pleaded guilty October 26 to grand larceny and filing a false document following a scheme that lasted from 2021 through 2025.

According to Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney, Delgado was responsible for calculating and paying the auto shop's quarterly New York State taxes.

Instead, prosecutors said, Delgado falsified tax returns to underreport the business's sales, reducing the amount owed to the state.

He then transferred the reduced tax payments from the company's bank accounts and pocketed the difference.

Over 16 transactions, Delgado stole $260,687.22 while the business owner believed the taxes were being paid in full.

Prosecutors said Delgado used the stolen money for personal expenses, including his mortgage, credit cards, airfare, food, OnlyFans subscriptions and personal income taxes.

"The deliberate theft of over $260,000 from a small business represents a serious violation of professional duty and criminal law," Tierney said.

"This guilty plea ensures the defendant is held accountable for this egregious abuse of trust. In addition to jail, he will be required to pay back what he stole."

Delgado pleaded guilty before Supreme Court Justice Timothy Mazzei to third-degree grand larceny, a felony, and second-degree offering a false instrument for filing, a misdemeanor.

He is scheduled to return to court January 28, 2027, when he is expected to receive consecutive 364-day jail sentences on each charge.

Delgado has already repaid $56,000 and must repay the remaining $204,687 as part of his sentence.

He is represented by the Legal Aid Society.

The investigation involved the Suffolk County District Attorney's Public Corruption Squad and state tax investigators.
