Manorville Sportsman’s Club Hosts Annual “Take a Shot at Cancer”
The Peconic River Sportsman’s Club will host its 12th annual “Take a Shot at Cancer” fundraiser on Saturday, Sept. 19, in Manorville, with proceeds benefiting local cancer organizations.

The Peconic River Sportsman’s Club will host its 12th annual “Take a Shot at Cancer” fundraiser on Saturday, Sept. 19, in Manorville, with proceeds benefiting local cancer organizations.
The event will begin with an opening ceremony at 8 a.m., followed by squadding at 8:15 a.m. Shooting begins at 9 a.m.
The $225 entry fee includes 100 sporting clays, 100 12-gauge shells, a light breakfast, snacks and a steak and barbecue lunch with dessert. Participants are required to bring their own 12-gauge shotgun.
Non-shooters may attend the lunch for $30. A limited number of four-seat golf carts will also be available to rent for $100 each. The fundraiser will feature auctions, raffles and a 50/50 drawing.

Over the past 11 years, the Peconic River Sportsman’s Club has raised more than $400,000 through the annual fundraiser. Last year’s event generated $68,100, which was donated to three local breast cancer organizations: the Babylon Breast Cancer Coalition, Lucia’s Angels and the North Fork Breast Health Coalition.
The club traditionally distributes the proceeds during a holiday luncheon held in December at its historic clubhouse.
The Peconic River Sportsman’s Club is located on 400 acres at 1 Connecticut Ave. in Manorville. Its clay-shooting facilities are open to the public on a limited basis.
