Teen Biker Killed in Moriches Crash

A 19-year-old Center Moriches man was killed Tuesday afternoon when his motorcycle collided with a pickup truck in an intersection on Montauk Highway in Moriches.

Charles Carrano was driving a 2006 Honda motorcycle eastbound on Montauk Highway when he struck a 2014 Ram 1500 pickup truck at the intersection with James Hawkins Road at 12:42 p.m., Suffolk County Police said.

Carrano was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The driver of the pickup truck, Leonardo Munoz-Umanzor, 27, of East Moriches, was not injured.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks as detectives from the Suffolk County Police Seventh Squad continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
