Buehler? Buehler? Buehler?
Sometimes the best bets don't require overthinking. When one of the hottest offenses in baseball faces a pitcher whose recent form has completely unraveled, I'll happily back the bats.

When one of the hottest offenses in baseball faces a pitcher whose recent form has completely unraveled, I'll happily back the bats.
That's exactly the case tonight with the Toronto Blue Jays.
Toronto's offense has caught fire, scoring 24 runs over its last three games. While much of the attention has been on Okamoto's power surge, this lineup is no longer relying on one hitter. The Blue Jays are getting production throughout the order, stringing together quality at-bats and consistently putting pressure on opposing pitching staffs.
Now they draw Walker Buehler, and this is where the value lies.
There was a brief stretch where it looked like Buehler had rediscovered his form, but that momentum has disappeared in a hurry. Over his last two starts, he has surrendered 16 earned runs in just nine innings of work, watching his ERA climb back above 5.00. Those aren't just bad outings—they're signs of a pitcher searching for answers.
Even when Buehler was throwing the ball well earlier this season, he rarely worked deep into games. He's become more of a five-inning starter than the workhorse he was earlier in his career, and his strikeout numbers no longer allow him to escape trouble consistently. When hitters are making this much contact against a struggling pitcher, crooked numbers often follow.
That sets up perfectly for a Blue Jays lineup that's swinging the bats with confidence.
Toronto has been aggressive early in counts, is producing quality contact throughout the lineup, and has shown the ability to cash in with runners in scoring position during this recent hot streak. Facing a pitcher who has been hit hard over his last two outings is exactly the type of matchup bettors should look to exploit.
The market may still give Buehler some credit based on his past success, but recent performance tells a different story. Right now, Toronto is the team in form, and Buehler is the pitcher trending in the wrong direction.
I'm not looking to overcomplicate this handicap.
