BUY LOW

Gerrit Cole, SP, Yankees

Cole is pitching tonight against Houston and people are still treating him like the injury version from the last year and a half. He's punched out 78 in 73.2 innings with a 1.10 WHIP, and the last 31 innings have been cleaner than the first 40. The Yankees are in a real AL East race. They are not shutting him down.

If a manager in your league is done with the name and the ERA from 2025, that's your window. You are buying a strikeout pitcher with a 1.10 WHIP for a playoff push. Fill a hole on their roster and get the arm. This is not complicated.

Riley Greene, OF, Tigers

Greene's second half looks bad, and that's why you can get him. The talent did not evaporate in July. He's a middle-of-the-order bat who slumps loud, and right now the owner is staring at the last six weeks instead of the player. If you're competing, buy him.

SELL HIGH

Jeremy Peña, SS, Astros

Peña is hitting .422 with a 1.292 OPS in the second half and somebody in your league thinks he's a first-round shortstop now. The Statcast is not on board. His second-half xSLG is hundreds of points under the real number. The season line (.320 / .901 OPS) is good enough to fetch a star. Use it.

This is the definition of selling into a heater. You will not get this offer in two weeks.

Colson Montgomery, SS, White Sox

Twenty-five homers plays. The underlying contact does not. His xBA has been sitting in the basement of the league, and the swing-and-miss is doing what it always does when the luck dries up. If a power-starved manager sees 25 bombs and ninth in the majors, that's your exit. Get a more trustworthy bat or a starter you can actually run out in the playoffs.

The best trades happen when one side is reacting to the last two weeks. Peña owners are euphoric. Cole owners are tired. Be the calm one.
