Jorge Bonifacio Makes Ducks History on His Way to MVP Honors

The Long Island Ducks have named outfielder and five-year MLB veteran Jorge Bonifacio their 2026 Most Valuable Player.

The announcement was made before the Ducks’ regular-season home finale on Sunday, September 13, after Bonifacio put together a record-setting first season with the Flock.

Entering Sunday’s finale, the 33-year-old had driven in 106 runs, breaking the Ducks’ single-season franchise record of 103 RBIs set by Ray Navarrete in 2008. He also entered the game with 29 home runs, tied for the most in a single season in Ducks history with Carl Everett’s 2008 total.

Bonifacio appeared in 111 games while hitting .267 with 109 hits, 94 runs and 60 extra-base hits. He also provided plenty of value defensively, committing no errors in 85 games in the outfield.

For being selected as the team’s MVP, Bonifacio received a luxury wristwatch courtesy of Delmonte-Smelson Jewelers.

The Ducks also announced that infielder Alsander Womack was the winner of the P.C. Richard & Son Whistle Player of the Year competition.

The first-year Duck scored the most runs in games in which he was selected as the Whistle Player of the Game. Overall, Womack entered Sunday leading Long Island and ranking ninth in the Atlantic League with a .311 batting average. His 133 hits also led the Ducks and ranked eighth in the league.

The 27-year-old had also collected 11 home runs, 71 RBIs, 74 runs and an .829 OPS in 109 games. Womack received a $500 gift card from P.C. Richard & Son for winning the competition.

The announcements came during an exciting weekend for the Ducks, who defeated the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs 8-2 Saturday night before a past-capacity crowd of 7,157 at Fairfield Properties Ballpark.
