Kyle Palmieri Launches ROGER for Long Island Veterans

It is always heartwarming to see local athletes give back to their communities, especially when they are supporting such an important cause.

That is exactly what New York Islanders forward Kyle Palmieri and his foundation are doing for veterans and their families across Long Island.

The Kyle Palmieri Foundation, which is dedicated to improving the lives of veterans and their families, has launched ROGER New York, a free online resource hub designed to connect veterans and military families with verified, up-to-date programs and services.

Through ROGER.vet, veterans, service members and military families can enter information such as their branch of service and residency to receive personalized results for resources available to them.

The goal is to make it easier for veterans to find the help they need.

According to the foundation, 1.5 million U.S. veterans are at risk of homelessness, often because they lack early access to benefits, housing and mental health support. While more than 45,000 veteran service organizations operate nationwide, finding the right program can sometimes be overwhelming.

ROGER was originally created in New Jersey and has already made an impact there. The Kyle Palmieri Foundation worked with ROGER’s founders at Backpacks For Life to expand the resource to Long Island.

“The challenge isn’t always a lack of support available. The challenge comes from finding and accessing that support, which is where ROGER comes in,” Palmieri said.

ROGER New York is currently available to veterans, service members and military families in Nassau, Suffolk and Queens counties, as well as New Jersey. The program is expected to expand throughout New York State during 2027.

For Palmieri, the project is another way to support those who have served and help make sure they can find assistance when they need it most.
