The Smithtown Booster Club Track & Field Summer Camp is off and running, giving dozens of young athletes the opportunity to sharpen their skills while having fun during the summer.

This week's camp welcomed 35 student-athletes in grades 3-9, all eager to learn from an outstanding group of coaches and mentors. Throughout the week, campers are building confidence, improving their technique, and gaining a greater appreciation for the sport of track and field.

Leading the way are Coach Flynn, Coach Willman, Coach Vessichio, and Coach Bayne, along with dedicated student volunteers from Smithtown High School East and Smithtown High School West. Together, they are providing instruction in a wide variety of events while encouraging teamwork, sportsmanship, and a positive attitude.

Campers are developing their abilities in long-distance, middle-distance, and sprint races while also getting hands-on experience in several field events. Young athletes have the opportunity to try the long jump, triple jump, high jump, discus, and even race walking, giving them exposure to many different aspects of the sport.

The camp is designed not only to improve athletic performance but also to help participants build friendships, learn new skills, and gain confidence in a supportive environment. With experienced coaches and enthusiastic high school volunteers serving as role models, campers are receiving valuable instruction while creating lasting summer memories.

The week will conclude with the always-popular Olympics Day, where campers will have the chance to showcase everything they have learned. The fun-filled competition celebrates teamwork, determination, sportsmanship, and personal growth while giving each participant an opportunity to put their new skills into action.

Programs like the Smithtown Booster Club Track & Field Summer Camp continue to help grow the sport at the youth level, inspiring the next generation of runners, jumpers, and throwers while strengthening the connection between the community and its successful high school track and field programs.
