BREAKING NEWS: Sore Loser Blakeman Blasted Over Stefanik Attack
Bruce Blakeman’s crushing defeat in New York’s gubernatorial race apparently wasn't enough humiliation for one week.

Bruce Blakeman’s crushing defeat in New York’s gubernatorial race apparently wasn't enough humiliation for one week. Now, the defeated Republican is facing a firestorm of backlash after launching a blistering personal attack against Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, who responded with grace and dignity while fellow Republicans unloaded on Blakeman for his political finger-pointing.
Blakeman, who lost to Democratic Governor Kathy Hochul by roughly 20 percentage points Tuesday, took to X to blame Stefanik for failing to help Republican candidates across New York.
“Elise Stefanik is a selfish, do nothing politician that didn’t lift a finger to help Republican candidates in New York this year,” Blakeman wrote. “She had one moment of glory in what was otherwise an unremarkable career.”
Rather than return fire with personal insults, Stefanik offered the defeated candidate some sympathy, mixed with a pointed reminder of her own electoral success.
“I know feelings are raw in the aftermath of Tuesday's result so I will cut some slack because while I don’t know from experience, as I have never lost any of my seven elections, I know that this is a tough loss in NY and I imagine it takes time to process,” Stefanik responded.
She later extended what she called “Upstate grace,” emphasizing the importance of rebuilding Republican support following the devastating statewide defeat.
Stefanik also noted that she has spent the past decade campaigning, supporting candidates and helping raise more than $100 million for Republicans nationwide.
The New York Young Republican Club wasn't nearly as forgiving.
“This is what a sore loser looks like,” the organization declared. “Instead of taking responsibility for his loss, he places blame elsewhere.”
The club delivered another stinging rebuke, noting that Blakeman couldn't even carry his home county. New York City Councilwoman Inna Vernikov unleashed an even more blistering response, accusing Blakeman's Nassau County political operation of pushing aside a stronger candidate and misleading supporters about his chances.
“Elise Stefanic (sp) was and is a star in the Republican Party,” Vernikov wrote, accusing Blakeman's campaign of being a “failed grift.”
“This post is petty and childish. Don’t be bitter. Reflect on your own missteps,” she added.
Jesse Arm, vice president of the Manhattan Institute, piled on with biting sarcasm.
“Glad to see Bruce Blakeman is having a normal one—taking his 20-point loss in stride and being both gracious and magnanimous in defeat,” Arm wrote.
Former Crazy Eddie CFO Sam E. Antar also blasted Blakeman, arguing that he ignored repeated warnings about his campaign strategy.
Antar said he had urged Blakeman to reach Black and Hispanic voters in New York City rather than campaign as though Nassau County were the center of the political universe.
“You were the candidate, Bruce,” Antar wrote, demanding accountability.
The exchange unfolded as Republicans assessed the results of Tuesday’s election, in which Hochul defeated Blakeman by approximately 20 percentage points statewide.
According to preliminary election returns, Hochul received roughly 3.5 million votes to Blakeman’s 2.35 million. Blakeman also trailed Hochul by 216 votes in his home county of Nassau, with one precinct still outstanding.
