Center Moriches’ Paul Gibson Named Axcess Baseball Coach of the Year

Center Moriches baseball coach Paul Gibson has earned another honor after leading the Red Devils on an unforgettable championship run. Gibson was named the recipient of the Bryan Bonin Coach of the Year Award as Axcess Baseball announced its 2026 season award winners this week.

Gibson guided Center Moriches to a remarkable 21-4 record and the Class B Long Island Championship, capping the season with a convincing 4-0 victory over Oyster Bay. Before claiming the Long Island title, the Red Devils defeated Babylon to capture the Suffolk County championship.

The back-to-back postseason victories highlighted a tremendous season for Center Moriches, which established itself as one of the top teams in its classification. The Red Devils combined strong play on the field with the determination needed to deliver in the biggest moments of the year.

For Gibson, the Coach of the Year recognition reflects the work that went into building a team capable of competing for championships. Guiding a high school baseball program through a demanding season requires preparation, leadership and the ability to bring players together around a common goal. Center Moriches showed those qualities throughout its successful campaign.

The championship victory over Oyster Bay provided a fitting finish to a season that saw the Red Devils rise to the top of Suffolk County before taking their success to the Long Island level.

Gibson’s involvement in baseball also extends beyond the high school diamond. He serves as vice president of the Little League Board of Directors, continuing his commitment to the sport and the development of young players in the community.

That connection to youth baseball reflects the important role local coaches play in helping athletes develop their skills and build a lasting appreciation for the game.

With a county championship, a Long Island title and a 21-win season on their résumé, Gibson and the Red Devils gave Center Moriches baseball fans plenty to remember from 2026. The Bryan Bonin Coach of the Year Award adds another distinction to a season defined by hard work, teamwork and championship success.
