The Miller Place High School boys and girls cross country teams turned in outstanding performances at the Section XI Divisional Championships at Sunken Meadow State Park, with the boys capturing a Division 4 championship and both squads earning impressive finishes among Suffolk County’s top teams.

The boys team claimed first place in Division 4, finishing fourth overall in Suffolk County. The strong showing highlighted the team’s hard work and dedication throughout the season, as the Panthers delivered when it mattered most.

The girls team also had plenty to celebrate, finishing second in Division 4 and seventh overall in Suffolk County. Their performance capped an impressive day for the Miller Place program, with both teams demonstrating the determination and teamwork that make cross country such a challenging sport.

The boys squad featured Nicholas DiCaprio, Noah Felice, Niko Gasparis, Gabriel Salazar, Xavier Salazar, Jackson Ferrara and Antonio Tarabocchia. Representing the girls team were Ella Behrens, Kate Xikis, Paige Nolan, Savanna Moeller, Allison Creighton, Maggie O’Callaghan and Ava O’Connor.

Both teams have another important opportunity ahead as all of their runners prepare to compete in the Section XI Class B State Qualifier Meet on Thursday, November 5, at Sunken Meadow State Park.

The qualifier will give Miller Place runners a chance to continue building on their success and compete for an opportunity to advance to the next level of postseason competition.

With the divisional championships behind them, the Panthers will now turn their attention to the state qualifier, hoping to carry their momentum into another big meet.

For Miller Place, having both the boys and girls teams finish among Suffolk County’s top Division 4 programs is a strong reflection of the work being done across the school’s cross country program.
