The Hills West girls soccer program recently enjoyed a memorable trip to the Albany area, combining competition on the field with an opportunity to celebrate one of its own.
The team traveled north to attend the New York State Girls Soccer Hall of Fame Tournament and Induction Ceremony, where Hills West graduate Jordyn Levy, Class of 2021, was officially inducted into the Hall of Fame.
For the current players, the trip offered a special chance to support a former member of the program and see firsthand the impact that Hills West athletes can continue to have long after graduation. The team was there to cheer on Levy as she received one of the sport’s most meaningful honors, making the weekend about more than just soccer.
Of course, the Colts also had some business to take care of on the field.
Hills West competed in two non-league games during the trip and came away with a win and a draw against strong competition. The team earned a 3-2 victory over Clarence before playing Columbia to a 1-1 tie.
The results added another positive element to an already memorable weekend, giving the current team an opportunity to compete while also being part of a celebration of the program’s history.
Trips like this can provide a different kind of experience for student-athletes. Away from their normal routines, teammates have the chance to spend time together, face new opponents and create memories that extend beyond the results of a single game.
At the same time, Levy’s induction served as a reminder of the tradition that surrounds Hills West girls soccer and the athletes who have helped build it.
The district described the weekend as a celebration of a proud Hills West soccer tradition while creating new memories for the program.
Between honoring a 2021 graduate, competing against talented teams and sharing the experience together, the Hills West girls soccer team returned home with plenty to remember from its trip to the Albany area.
