Knicks Legend Coming to Mastic for 3-on-3 Basketball Challenge

Long Island basketball fans, especially those who bleed orange and blue, will have a special opportunity to meet one of the greatest players in New York Knicks history when Walt “Clyde” Frazier comes to Suffolk County on September 18.

Frazier will be appearing at the 3-on-3 Basketball Challenge hosted by Brookhaven Town Supervisor Dan Panico. The event, sponsored by Town of Brookhaven Youth Basketball, will take place at the Mastic Aquatic Center and Basketball Court, located at 300 Mastic Beach Road in Mastic.

For longtime Knicks fans, Frazier needs little introduction. The Hall of Fame point guard was a key part of two championship teams, helping lead the Knicks to NBA titles in 1970 and 1973. Known for his smooth play, flashy style and confidence on the court, Frazier became one of the most recognizable players in franchise history.

His New York sports legacy has continued long after his playing days. Frazier is now the longtime television commentator for the Knicks, where his colorful personality, sharp basketball insight and famously stylish wardrobe have made him a fan favorite in the broadcast booth.

Now, local young basketball players will have a chance to meet the Knicks legend in person—and potentially go head-to-head with a team led by Supervisor Panico.

The event is open to participants ages 13 through 18. Players will be selected at random for the opportunity to compete against Panico’s team in 3-on-3 basketball games, with prizes up for grabs. Panico’s team is expected to be announced soon.

Participants will also be treated to drinks and snacks during the event.

For young basketball players in the area, it promises to be a unique opportunity to take the court while meeting one of the most iconic figures in New York basketball history.
